Amazon.com BLOWS...don't waste your time
by truefit1515, December 14, 2005
Amazon.com sucks!!! They said they had an Apple I-Pod in stock and I would be receiving it in 7-10 days. On the 10th day I received an e-mail telling me that they were out of stock and would not be delivering it to me for another month and a half. Now every store in town is sold out of them so I'm stuck out in the cold. Their overseas customer service is BEAT too! They don't understand english very well and offered no solution to my problem besides "free shipping" which I had already obtained upon my original order....nice. I will not shop at Amazon.com EVER again and will spread the negative word about their company.

deplorable, crooked, unlawful, poor business practice
by babooze, February 23, 2006
I ordered a travel book through Amazon. The outsourced company, THERGROUP, handled the transaction. The book was extremely slow in arriving but what made this purchase fraudulent was that the company sent me a book that had pages that were HIGHLIGHTED in YELLOW. They tried to pass off a USED book for the price of one that was NEW.

If it's fragile...don't buy it at Amazon!!!
by pdimama, October 1, 2007
Overall I have always had good service from Amazon. HOWEVER!!! I recently ordered a soup tureen that arrived broken. It was poorly packaged and I noted that in my return request. Obviously no human read that note. The second tureen arrived broken also. this time when i requested a return the automated reply said it was already shipped. i spoke with person and he could/would not assure me the next shipment would be packaged any differently and offered me a full refund. I was very disappointed and will not deal with Amazon for fragile items any longer!

Amazon ships used item to customer
by raymondqlam, September 28, 2007
I paid $1698 for a brand new camera lens, Canon EF F/2.8L IS USM. When I received it, the packaging is bad(no shipping support inside the box) and the lens that Amazon shipped to me had dirts all over it. I am giving Amazon a second chance to earn my business by contacting customer service department requesting a replacement unit. It's been more than 12 hours from the time that I called no one from Amazon contact me to confirm that they will ship out a replacement lens. I paid for 2 days shipping because I need the camera for a trip. I regretted that I ordered this expensive lens from Amazon. I should have order it from a BHPhoto or some other big camera store on the web. I am posting the order number here so that someone in Amazon management can see this order and take some action on it. Order number# 102-9420238-5203304.

Very disappointed with Amazon.com, buy elsewhere
by thewatts, November 5, 2005
We attempted to purchase the Magellan 700 GPS from Amazon. After one attempt to deliver at 2:00 p.m. when no one was home, UPS sent it back to Amazon. We contacted Amazon about this goof up and were told they could not resend the product but encouraged us to return to their web site and place another order. We did go back to Amazon.com to place another order but the very same product's price was then $50 more. Amazon canceled our order saying we had given them an undeliverable address which was a total falsehood. We will never purchase from Amazon again.

Bad, Horrible, Stressful
by bre1er, February 3, 2007
Please do not buy books especially text books from Amazon.com. I purchased a stats book from a seller who flat out lied in writing about when she shipped it. I had to buy an extra book because I figured she never sent it. And Amazon.com could not care less.Amazon will let anyone sell on their site and even lie with a written contract, please avoid and save yourself the stress, hassle and money.

My worst online purchase experience ever
by bensranch, August 25, 2005
Worst customer service and web site I have ever used and I order computer parts daily for an IT company. No customer service phone number. The info on the site is inadequately updated. Once you find a way to email customer service, which is nearly impossible, they don't get back to you. Shipping selections are ignored. Multiples shipped w/o warning. We are never ordering from them again.

Slow shipping and customer service
by althura, August 8, 2005
I ordered a cell phone with 1 year service agreement on Wednesday morning, the availability status for this phone is usually ships within 24 hours, and still is at the time of this writing. However, my phone didn’t get shipped out until Friday afternoon, and I won’t received until Monday evening even though I chose 2 day shipping. So if you are ordering a cell phone from them, expect “usually ships within 24 hours” to be “usually ships within 2-3 days”, and “Two Day Shipping” to be “At least four days shipping”. Adding insult to injury they activated my phone on Thursday, so I’ll paying for 5 days of wireless service without even having the phone. When emailing customer service regarding this issue, it took them more than 24hrs to give me a canned response of contacting the service provider and place the account temporarily on hold. Placing the account on hold will only prolong my contract time, not change the activation date. And if I’m unsatisfied with my service provider, I will only have less than 10 days to cancel it instead of the normal 15 days.

Amazon became the worst e-commerce shop
by olegy, July 12, 2005
Amazon sucks. It is no longer a good e-commerce shop. stay away. Last three order form amazon - one is lost in mail, second - took 3 weeks to deliver, the third one - ordered a simple item, they changing delivery dates - initially it was 5 business days, now it is showing 2 months - TWO MONTHS!!! to deliver. The product was in stock.
I have a few gift certificates from amazon - earned them by using Amazon VISA - going to spend them out, close that VISA account and would never shop there again.

Extremely disappointing. Shipping textbooks on-time is NOT their strength!
by surfmann, February 19, 2007
It is highly discouraged to use Amazon.com for ordering college textbooks. The books for class were ordered as soon as the list of classes was posted and it was assumed that a month would be plenty of time for their regular shipping since the books all showed "in-stock." WRONG! They were delivered after the first week of school.

Amazon.com saying "Free Shipping" doesn't mean it's free!
by ilsaggio, August 7, 2006
Free shipping is not always free! I was in the process of ordering a product that was presented online by Amazon.com as including free shipping. When I went to check out I found a $10 shipping charge added to the price of the product. I opened the link that tells me why I wasn't eligible for free shipping and learned that I wasn't buying the product from Amazon.com after all, I was buying it from another company that does charge for shipping. Now, the product in question was listed as being sold by Amazon.com with free shipping, but is actually sold by another company that charges for shipping. Am I missing something here? Is this false advertising? It certainly is misleading the consumer, something Amazon.com seems to do very well. Be careful - I don't trust their posted prices or when Amazon.com says "Free Shipping." It's probably a ploy to lure you into purchasing the product at an increased cost. I canceled my order and will not order from Amazon.com in the future.

Sell your stock fast because their service is going to kill them!
by robsresources, April 8, 2004
Amazon's customer service is a joke. No matter what your problem you will get scripted responses that don't come close to taking care of the problem. I've seen the quality of their service nose-dive in the past 9 months. I used to enjoy buying from them. Now, it's a rarity not to have some kind of problem. Trying to communicate with their csr's is impossible. They either have no comprehension of what you are trying to communicate or they chose to act as stupid as possible.

Deceitful and misleading advertising
by truth_in_adver, December 4, 2007
Completely deceitful! Advertised Free shipping on the order page for this very product. I was in the process of ordering quantity two of this item totalling over $100. At the end when the final order came up on the screen, they had ADDED SHIPPING and sales tax!
I wrote to them and two weeks later they NEVER BOTHERED TO REPLY.

My 9 year old was brokenhearted that her gift never arrived!!
by bjn1, April 9, 2004
I was very disappointed with Amazon. I was trying to purchase a Bratz doll salon as an Easter present for my 9 year old niece. I bought on-line 10 days ago and got the purchase confirmation the next day of shipping. I have waited and waited and the package never arrived. I leave for London tomorrow where my niece is, and I have no present to give to her. Amazon say their is nothing they can do and I wont receive it till April 13th after easter and after I depart for London. Now I have left it so late to purchase this item anywhere else that they are all sold out and I have to arrive empty handed. Telling my niece that the Amazon lady said she was sorry is no consolation for a 9yo. I even called them first thing this morning Friday the 9th to see if they could over night it to me and they said no.
I will never never never waste my time and money at Amazon again and I will tell my friends the same.

Thank you

Nix on gift certificates
by notageek, May 7, 2004
I've bought books from Amazon.com literally hundreds of times and always been satisfied. I've also bought one or two gift certificates before and it went well. But recently I had an experience that will prevent me from ever buying a gift certificate there again. I wanted to get gift certificates for one niece and one nephew. Naturally, they have computers. But with all the firewalls and spam blockers, etc., unless someone is unblocked, they don't always get through. One nephew and niece share a birth date, so I sent them each a gift certificate from Amazon.com; $100.00 each. My nephew (21) got his, but my niece (14) (and apparently not in need of money) made no effort to unblock Amazon.com to get the gift certificate. After three months I got disgusted and e-mailed Amazon to cancel the gift certificate. Well imagine my surprise when they said they couldn't because it was already sent. Don't they keep track of whether it was cashed? Can't they block it - like one would stop payment on a check? Apparently not. So I'm out $100 and the gift certificate is floating around cyberspace.

Don't buy large appliances from Amazon just to save a few bucks.
by aking8, April 10, 2004
My microwave arrived damaged - it had a dent in the metal above the door. I requested a return and a refund from Amazon through the website. I repacked this heavy box, which took almost an hour to do, dragged it outside to the front porch. The next day, UPS didn't pick it up. They left a note that the pickup ticket they got was for an item under one pound! Although I have emailed Amazon.com now four times to tell them this is a 65 pound microwave, they continue to order UPS pickups for a package under one pound. I still have had no luck getting them to pick this up! Amazon.com won't give me credit on my credit card until they get the microwave back, however, they won't order the pickup correctly. So this microwave sits on the front porch in the box, and if Amazon never orders the pickup correctly, it will never get picked up. This stress of having to deal with incompetency at Amazon.com is not worth the $50 bucks I was saving. Believe me - go to Sears or someplace where you can actually pickup your large item.

CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!
by luckyleroy, February 13, 2006
I have shopped at Amazon several times and always been happy with the experience. BUT NEVER AGAIN!! I was about to order a $200 cordless phone and wanted to ask about the warranty on a refurbished item so I call a customer service 800 number that has been in my file, unused, for a couple of years. Guess what.. This line is not in service, it has been replaced by a 900 number!! That's right! They want me to pay a charge by the minute for the privilege of holding on until they have a customer service rep available!!

I refuse to deal with a company that is afraid to talk to a customer who wants to order a product!!
