Buyer and Seller beware!
Full review I have been an Ebayer for a very long time. Recently, though, I have cut back on my selling. For one thing, if you are seller on Ebay, you get fees for everything, and it's expensive. A listing fee, a photo fee, a gallery fee, an auction fee, an ending early fee, an starting later fee, it goes on and on, plus final value fee. Then you get fees from Paypal which you sign up for to accept payment. The fees just never end! For what you get, most fees are not worth it. Ebay hardly ever runs listing special anymore either, and then when they do, they forget to tell you that the 20 cents listing fee doesn't count for the photo, the gallery, etc. so you get charged more than the 20 cents. Not a deal at all. Lately I have also run into buyers that don't pay. You can file a non-paying bidder alert, leave negative feedback, etc, but these do nothing to the seller. As a seller, I don't usually look at a buyers feedback. So, when they don't pay within 7 days (a very long time to pay!) I finally look and this buyer should not even be on this site! Ebay does virtually nothing to punish dead-beat buyers. It costs us sellers a lot of money! And hardly ever do you get a second-chance offer accepted. Another new problem is the designer inspired handbag deal. Ebay will suspend your listing or cancel it if you sell "fake" bags...well, when you've bought them off of Ebay and now are trying to sell them on Ebay and they keep pulling your auction off it's very annoying. I never list as the real thing--it's always designer inspired and the seller knows it's not the real deal, but I can't even show the item if it has the marks of the real bag--stupid! Ebay has been so flooded with bad sellers that it is hurting the loyal sellers who don't rip people off. For the fees and hassle of listing, try another site or sell your items on a rummage! As for buying, it's been getting harder and harder to trust listings that say Authentic. You don't know the true nature of this item and that's horrible. When I started buying and selling, I never doubted anything; now you can trust anyone, almost. It's a crap-shoot. Just as bad buyers are rarely punished, so are bad sellers. I complained for 2 months on a seller who i bought a Coach bag from only to take it to a Coach store to say it was a fake, when I wanted my money back, the seller refused. I was stuck and Ebay did little to NOTHING to help me out--Ebay is not safe anymore and Ebay does little to clean it up. Sellers charge outrageous shipping (gouging) and they get away with it because Ebay says they monitor it, but don't. Ebay's help is a joke also. You have to go through about 20 pages to send an email that rarely gets answered or if it does get sent back to you it never answers the questions anyway..it's a form letter...blah blah blah...weak! I say buyer (and seller) beware! |
