Addictive but fun and useful.

Great auction site but do your research on items and pay attention to seller's feedbacks and profiles. Use your judgement based on what other people have said about them but remember even the best sellers can problems with buyers, just human nature. Use the ask a question feature to get information from the seller about anything in their auction. Not everyone writes good descriptions or remembers to add all the details; some intentionally leave them out.

Shipping prices have gone up hugely so remember to add them to the total cost of items. Consider the use of sniper services for bidding; one free service is vrane.com.

Remember sellers have overhead in fees and Paypal fees plus the risk of non-paying buyers so be gentle with them. Beware of .99 selling as the auction fees are more than that. Research items using all different ways of spelling things. One really funny instance is the use of bowls/bowels. Ebay is getting hard for sellers as so many really professional sellers are now selling there. Be sure you understand if the item is used or new. I prefer buying from smaller sellers if possible. You can discover some great products from ordinary people who just need to thin out their possessions. or who produce some hand-crafted items. Some real bargains can be found there. I have some favorite sellers in spinning wool and personal art work.

Hobbies and collectibles are the most useful ways to get/sell things you can get no where else. I have bought my entire Bunnines by the Bay collection over a 5 year time span on Ebay. And sold a lot of estate inherited collectibles.

Selling is fun but expends tons of time and a definite learning curve. Selling is best using an auction manager such as InkFrog which hosts pictures and auction listings. Ebay itself is not cheap with listing fees for every little thing. Since they also own Paypal, much promotion is given on it. Paypal does really make payment easier; but it is costly for the seller.
