This model has the capability of vacuuming a wide area of carpeting ,tile and vinyl. The HEPA filter and disposable dust bags are perfect for me due to my allergies.

After consulting with the leading consumer reporting magazine, I bought the highest rated model that was affordable. This is how I came to own this Vaccum.

Eureka has designed a unit that really does combine the suction power of a canister with the carpet cleaning ability and easy mobility of an upright. Also provides the convenience of having the cleaning tools within easy reach.

In operation, this vaccum cleaner is surprisingly quiet. So quiet you can still hold a conversation with someone in the room. The cleaner's brush roller turns so rapidly, you can glide the cleaner across your floor with ease. The handy headlight helps spot obstacles in your path.

The 15-inch wide cleaning path shortens your vacuuming time and offers right-up-to-the-baseboard edge cleaning ability. For more stubborn debris simply assemble the extension wand and attach the crevice tool. The upholstery tool does an amazing job at reaching the carpet under your bed .One bonus feature: When the handle is returned to the full upright position the brush roller stops, preventing worn spots on your carpet. There is also a brush roller switch that permits you to turn off the brush roller at other times for sweeping bare floors.

There are a few engineering features that the 4870 has that are worth mentioning. The cleaner's motor is completely isolated from the suction path and protected by its own final stage filter. Small hard objects like coins and buttons won't damage the fan blades or jam the motor. The micron filtration dust bag, motor filter and HEPA filter add up to 3 stages of filtration before the air is expelled. The brush roller belt follows a twist-free path, extending its life and reducing the risk of belt breakage. However if debris actually does clog the suction path, all of the hoses can be detached and cleared.
